THE JIN JING GONG SYSTEM OF NEIDAN QIGONG

At the Philip Nearing School of Wing Chun we offer the Jin Jing Gong sytem of Neidan Qigong. The Jin Jing Gong lineage dates back 300 years to the time of the Qing Dynasty. At that time the ruling Manchu were keen to repress any resistance to their rule and forbade the practice of Qigong. It was well known that those who knew the secrets of Qi could use this knowledge for martial purposes.

Being in danger, Qigong masters from all over China fled to Mount Ermei to hide and preserve their arts. In their exile the masters of the many different lineages exchanged knowledge and a synthesis of many different styles began to evolve. Among these different styles were the Taoist Temple Style, the Buddhist style from Shaolin as well as male and female styles of internal alchemy.

The Jin Jing Gong style is a product of this synthesis, the current lineage holder being Wang Qingyu. The system is a complete system of health for the human body and consists of several forms as well as walking, sitting and reclining Qigong exercises. The system addresses the opening of the meridians, the strengthening of the tendons and the immune system as well as specific exercises for the internal organs of the body. The Jin Jing Gong system is also gender specific and each form and exercise is adjusted for both male and female practitioners. The goal of this wonderful style is to bolster and develop the physical and mental health of the practitioner and encourage a calmness of temperament and spirit.

Master Nearing learned the Jin Jing Gong system from his friend and colleague, Dr. Les Moore. Dr. Moore is the head of Integrative Medicine at Clifton Springs Hospital near Rochester, NY and a well renowned acupuncturist, herbalist and naturopath. He is also a very fine martial artist and has a strong interest in Wing Chun alongside his extensive knowledge of many martial disciplines including Jeet Kune Do. Dr. Moore has granted Master Nearing an instructor’s license in the Jin Jing Gong style of Qigong and is Master Nearing’s representative in Western New York.

We offer this system on Wednesday evenings to our students as well as those who simply wish to study Qigong. Master Nearing also teaches Qigong privately throughout the week.
